Deck idea: A new way for Ravnos

Hi folks!

Norman Brown aka XZealot posted like endless decks on the newsgroup. For some people this seemed to be pretty annoying. Well you can't please everyone, right? I myself found some of XZealot's ideas pretty amusing, but there was one deck that caught my attention:

The basic idea is that you steal all the pool from your prey's uncontrolled region. Should any vampire pop out you just send it back with Reality.

You can build a pretty cool swarm bleed module around it with Tumnimos and weenie Ravnos vampires. Week of Nightmares will give you ousting power and Chimerstry has pretty good stealth and combat defense available. I'm sure that my version of this deck would differ in many cards, but the basic idea is really cool. Thumbs up!!!

  1. While you can't please everyone, it is better to not displease your audience. Suggestions were offered on how to deal with it and ignored. It shows real immaturity on his part and on the part of his posse. On a blog, say whatever you want, it's *your* space. On the newsgroup, a little common courtesy goes a along way.

  2. Basically agreed. However the way some people reacted is just "troll". But this blog post is not about that newsgroup issue, it's about this card combo ;)

  3. This is one of those decks that is varying degrees of annoying to your pred(to stay alive) and prey(to do it's trick, maybe earning a VP) if it works at all Say you are player 1-2(or 3 without going anarch the hard way), now it will be at least turn 5 before you can get to work with an anarch Spider-Killer, if he shows up for duty. Your opponents already have guys out and they are doing their thing.

    If you want to pursue this strategy, I'd recommend group 2-3 ravnos with Dominate, especially Gabrin because he pays 1 less for chi cards. This is important without a path and with cards that cost three blood. At that rate, why aren't you playing sensory deprivation? Undue Influence at CHI is weak, much better at PRE or even QUI, because then you can crimethink. If you can bounce bleeds and make your prey suck them up, you may get some vps, not to mention live.

  5. @Brandon:

    I appreciate your efforts to explain the basic idea how v:tes works to me. Believe me I know. This deck will obviously never be a TWDA deck nor will you achieve any Game Wins. This deck is, what most of the better players don't understand: a funky casual game chill out deck where you don't raise any expectations towards it. What you want to do is play rarely used cards, try to find a new mechanics in v:tes and be happy if the combo works once. Then you put it aside and play some games with your tourney deck.

    @Azrael:

    Thank you for posting the deck! Seems a lot of fun, but I don't know how you could miss the week-o-nightmare there...

    And guys:

    This deck inspired me to something else: what about a Blanche Hill + Spider Killer deck? Spirit Marionette -> use Heidelberg -> send to uncontrolled with Reality...

  6. I'm not trying to be condescending, just list problems I see with the deck as written and make suggestions on how to improve it. Sometimes we forget important parts of decks, sometimes we don't. If I give some advice you've already considered, please feel free to disregard it. No harm no foul, as they say.

  8. @Brandon: you're right. Good idea btw. to play with Gabrin. I'd add some Dominate skill cards there, to make her a nine cap and let the weenies bounce, too.

    @Azrael: LOL, would be an awesome move to do!
