Killer Combo?

Hi folks!

This seems very very promising:

A 6 stealth action together with Call of the Hungry dead is something that won't get blocked. With Perfectionist the cost of Blood of Sandman is definitely worth the price. It is quite easy to tap out vampires with master cards, should they be untapped. Eze with Kduva's Mask and Narrow Minds is a strong combo on its own. However Blood of Sandman can help you with that last bleed you need for the oust.

Killer Combo: Temporatrix

Hi folks!

This combo has been "invented" by Peter Korsos, one of our most creative players. It's "endless" combat and will eat any non-combat deck for breakfast!

The combo is awesome by itself when facing hands for 1 only, but it gets way brutal if you add a Chainsaw to good ol' Trix. You can throw in some cool stuff like Summon History to get yourself a Tye Cooper or Ponticulus. The options are here to make it a creative and effective deck...

/I've seen that my previous post inspired the Lasombra, that's why I made a separate post for this. Maybe other people will find this interesting, too./

Killer Combo: Blood Tempered Shield

Hi folks!

Another one of my less killer Killer-Combos, but maybe the most funny one. At least in my eyes. Nothing extra to explain here. Blood Tempering will make the Shield to prevent 2 damage every round of combat. Wow. Give it a trap and your done.

I will try to build this with Mata Hari and include Talbot's Chainsaw and Kevlar Vest. Seems to be fun...

Killer Combo: Derange + Sacrifice

Hi folks!

Okay, don't take this too seriously. It should sound more like this: funny combo. You know I like the vampire Louhi so from time to time I try to figure out what to play with her. And here we go:

I guess you can see the idea here. It's like playing with a PTO again. Since you have a Cardinal, you can also use the derange to get vote lock. Throw in some Banishments for the 7-9 caps and annoy your playgroup with this.

/I am working on Hungarian translations, so don't expect any smart post until I am finished with that./

Killer Combo: Crocodiles Tongue + Kiss of Ra

Hi folks!

It's been a while since my last Killer Combo post. This ones strength is that the cards are very usable on their own too, so you don't necessarily need to wait for both to show up. This combo can do what most combat decks fail to achieve: send a vampire to torpor with two cards only and causing it four damage. Do this once, next time people will be afraid blocking you!

Some vampires to consider playing this combo with:

Bruce de Guy

Well, I think nobody will expect you to play such a combo with him. Since he is a Cardinal another one of your vampires can go for a diablerie action or just play a Graverobbing, which is even more fun. Add Banishment to the deck!

Gotsdam, The Tired Warrior

Basically you play the good ol' Grinder deck enhanced with this combo. Crocodiles Tongue will help you against allies too, which is important since you might want to play with Daring the Dawn!

Lydia, Grand Praetor

She can fetch the Ankara Citadel with Summon History making Kiss of Ra even more effective since it will cost her only 1 blood. You most likely want to play the Domain of Evernight + Outside the Hourglass combo instead, but maybe you want to use something else...

Mary Ann Blaire

With her built in bloat action you will always have something you want to get passed. Play this combo once and nobody will care about those 2 pool. Isn't that nice?

I hope you liked this one. There are some more vamps out there who could use this so it's up to you. Give it a try and have fun!

Killer Combo: Secret Horde + Parity Shift

Hi folks!

While I was thinking about decks I used to play and would like to play again I came over my nosferoyalty deck. It pretty much differs from the well known Zillah's Valley type-o-deck. I used to play it with:

4x Parthenon
4x Rumors of Gehenna
9x Secret Horde
18x Parity Shift

The main idea was to use the Secret Hordes for pool control and always be able to parity shift my prey or predator if I wanted to weaken him. Once I had my first prey down to less then 5 pool I just bled with all my vampires for 1 and meanwhile I shifted my grand prey. Parity Shift actually worked great when only 3 of us were left. On the 1 vs 1 I had three master phase actions and (no kidding) 30+ pool on the secret hordes, so I could gain 3 pool/turn. By this time I had 5+ vampires. Also Parity Shift is much better in the end game than most of you may think:

KRC on 1 vs 1: 3 pool loss for your opponent, 1 pool loss for you = 2 pool difference

Parity Shift on 1 vs 1: 2 pool loss for your prey, 2 pool gain for you = 4 pool difference

The only big weakness of this deck is called Delaying Tactics. Well, if you get delayed, take it like a man. :)

I think I will re-build this deck, but this time it will be enhanced with cards like Warsaw Station, Old Friends and Monastery of Shadows.

Killer Combo: Shalmath + Recurring Contemplation

Hi folks!

During the play test weekend Zoli astonished us with this smart combo. With superior Temporis, you can tap a younger vampire or an ally right away. Shalmath's ability works out great when using actions cards such as mind numb! Look at this:

Shalmath can tap out all of your preys minions without any difficulties! Image what a great tap and bleed deck can be built with him. Throw in a Perfectionist for better blood management, or fetch an Ankara Citadely with Summon History. If more presence weenies will be introduced to group 6, this deck will be awesome!

Killer Combo: Daring the Dawn + Force of Personality

Hi folks!

No matter how hard I try, I just can't deny the fact, that my first CCG was Magic: the Gathering. Back in those days when I played m:tg only, I was a big fan of using all kind of (mostly weird) combos. If there is anything that I miss from time to time when I play v:tes, than it's the incomparable feeling of a card combination working out. Inspired by these slowly fading memories (I stopped playing m:tg six years ago an sold my collection) I've decided to find some combos in v:tes that remind me of these old days.

While in m:tg you could build entire decks around a combo formed by some cards, v:tes is a bit different. I wouldn't call Govern + stealth + Conditioning a "combo", just to get that fixed before I continue this article. While in m:tg a combo formed the core of a deck and the remaining cards where used to support this combo, I think in v:tes it's mostly vice versa: you add some weird ideas to give your otherwise dull deck some flavour or to be able to deal with situations such a deck couldn't normally deal with.

The first Killer Combo I want to introduce is Daring the Dawn + Force of Personality. With many allies likely to show up (Ponticulus, Tye Cooper, Carlton, Ossian, etc.) in modern v:tes, Daring the Dawn isn't enough any more to support a power bleed or tap 'n bleed strategy. If these two cards are used on the same action it will be almost unblockable. I guess the only ally you really can expect at a tournament that could cause you some headache is the good ol' Shambling Horde. Well, you can't have it all.

Let's take a look at some decks that might profit from this Killer Combo:

Nergal Super Bleed

If I only had 4 basic Nergals! Get a Concordance on the guy and bleed for a minimum of 8 with this combo, of course supported by cards like Blind Spot, Hide the Mind, Perfect Clarity and I am Legion. Someday I will build this deck...

Edward Vignes

It's a classic deck by now. Piloted to many finals and wins by excellent players like Ruben Feldman and Orian Gissler, who included this combo to their deck. Check the link for an example!

Daughters of Cacaphony

Not only bleed decks can use this combo. It may work wonders in a vote deck, too. Since the appearance of Lily Prelude I think it is only a matter of time until a DoC deck will show up in the TWDA again.

That's it for today guys. As always, feel free to comment!
