Unofficial Tournament coming this weekend

Hi folks!

We are going to play a funny tournament this Saturday. Each crypt has to consist of 100% Sabbat vampires and 75% of the same clan!!! SABBAT WAR!!! Even better: if 100% of your crypt is from the same clan than you can ignore the grouping rule!!! Sounds like immense fun!

Deck Idea: Nahir Research and Bleed

Hi folks!

Here is another one of my deck ideas. It's plain and simple: build up an awesome hand and stealth-bleed for the victory. It's pretty similar to the Guillaume Giovanni powerbleed archetype. This deck has a solid defensive module against rush and bleed decks. Should your metagame have many vote decks you might want to add some Delaying Tactics and exchange the Guard Dogs for On the Qui Vives.

First Governs should always be at superior and you should start building up your hand size. An early Enkil Cog is of course always nice to have. Let the table influence! With such decks you don't need to hurry because people will wall up pool against you if you show too early forward pressure. With 3 vampires on the board and a hand size of ~10 you should have no problem with making vp's in the midgame.

So here is the decklist (note that it has 80 cards only, so there is still free room for stuff left):

Report: Papkeszi Play Test Weekend

Hi folks!

So here us my report. Despite my original plan, it will be rather brief. We played quite a lot of games but also played a couple of rounds of Smallworld Underground and Chaos in the Old world. Overall it was a great weekend and I am looking forward to the next one!

All 8 cap stealth bleed

I've made an all 8 cap DEM/OBF bleed deck with 4 different vampires, all of them having the +1 bleed ability (well Jason has to burn a blood for it). The basic idea is to play many Zillah's Valleys and few Villein/Golconda combos. This is a hyper-aggressive deck where you don't waste any time on actions like The Call. All your vampires will only bleed and hopefully for 5 only, with Kindred Spirits and Eyes of Chaos. I played only two games with it and since we had a combat heavy environment those were not really successful. However I think this deck has potential, though it is clearly less effective then the old school weenie Dementation archetype.

Khazar's Diary with Cry Wolves

A 60 card version. Played it only once since I didn't drew a single copy of Khazar's Diary (8) in the first 5 turns and when I finally drew the first one my Akunanse prey was well prepared. Also the deck is "dry" or boring if you wish.

Shambling Hordes

I made a mid cap version with Andrea and Isabel Giovanni + Le Dinh Tho. No Parthenon and additional master tech. The idea was to put 18 Shambling Hordes in a 75 card deck and try to continuously hit the 2 hordes/turn ratio. This deck was far the most fun to play. It needs some more tweaking. I always made my vp and almost always played for the Game win in the heads-up, but always lost it. Again: the environment was combat heavy and I either lost to Fortitude/Potence or Fortitude/Animalism. Despite this, I like playing with this deck. It is just funny to play and fun is the goal of v:tes. Isn't it?

Sheldon + support

I don't really like Turbo Parity, but I like Sheldon and Parity. So I made it slower. The idea here is to use Sheldon as your star and use Gilbert Duane, Greger Andersson and Korah as support vampires. An Auspex/Obfuscate stealth vote basically with minor Freak Drive support. Bleed bounce came in handy and the Warsaw Station + Fourth Tradition combo worked well. Telepathic Vote Counting is underrated imo. This is fun deck to play and I will take it to a tourney once.

Smallworld Underground

I am definitely more successful in Smallworld than in v:tes. I started with Shield + Shadow Mimes and scored less points early on then the other players. However I could avoid combat and set up for a scenario when my declined race will be save. My second pick was Mining Iron Dwarves and I started in an uninteresting part of the board. While everybody else was fighting over artifacts and locations I continued to avoid combat and forged my hammers. I started scoring the same points than the others and expanded with my Dwarves, who now equipped with 7 hammers where quite frightening. I started scoring good points and maximized this in the last three turns with and awesome 19-19-25!!! With 121 points total I won the game.

Chaos in the Old World

This was a very good and balances session. I got Khorne a god I am not really good with, but well I tried. My goal was to establish myself in the Empire and dominate it any maybe the one or another region by military. I wanted to attack only to get my 1 dial/turn or to get rid of a threat (another player becoming too strong). In the first half of the game this strategy did just fine, there were turns when I was second with vps being real close to the first one. Unfortunately a stupid event put new hero tokens on the board and since my threat was too high I literally got eradicated from the board by all those nasty heroes. After this I was forced to change strategy and go for the dial victory. One turn before I could win with the dial Nurgle hit the 50 vp mark and won the game.

Looking forward to play many games this weekend

Hi folks!

This weekend there will be another play test marathon at my place. Csaba Greguss, Ferenc "Frankie" Vasadi, David Wittmann, Peter Botos and myself will test our new and old decks. Also we will play the one or another round of Chaos in the Old World (with expansion).

So today and tomorrow I have to build decks like hell. Currently I have only old stuff ready to play, so I really should get myself together and finally not just talk about ideas and decks, but put them into a physical form. I am curious how that will work...

I plan to take some notes on the games again, so expect a rather long report on the weekend next week.

Deck idea: Nergal vote deck

Hi folks!

Here is a funny deck idea imo. I won't advise a deck list, just share my ideas. As the title of the post shows, this will be a vote deck with Nergal as your main or star vampire. There are some good reasons why I suggest Nergal.

First of all he is a 10 cap and therefore can get additional multi-action power with Enkil Cog. Also he has Fortitude for Freak Drives. Since this will be a vote deck, we need to make sure our votes will pass. Condemnation: Mute is our friend and Nergal can play it and use Freak Drive to play a political action right away! With sufficient Mute/Freak Drive combos you can reduce the overall votes on table, to 0 or close to 0. Also the targets will burn a blood for each successful referendum!

Here comes the second reason for Nergal: Free States Rant + Reckless Agitation! Free States Rant is the ultimate Predator lock-down and works well with Condemnation: Mute. Reckless Agitation is the perfect forward going card and will cost Nergal only 1 blood! So you can be aggressive both ways or wreak havoc upon a single target.

Nergal also has Auspex for some bleed bounce. This together with Unleash Hell's Fury and the Free States will give you a solid defense.

Nergal of course can make great use of Tend the Flock. Arishat, Annazir and Xeper are your other vampires in the crypt, of course. I think this deck doesn't need a lot of master cards, therefore you can put in a good amount of Tend the Flocks.

So let's take a look at the deck again:

Crypt:

So our crypt will have a multi-acting star vampire with a bleed for 3 and a "free Mute/turn", who can bounce bleed. Arishat will give us additional vote power, as well as Annazir and Xeper does. Annazir can burn locations and equipments, while Xeper can steal allies.

Versatility:

As you can see from above you have an answer to many situations. Add the threat from Free States Rant (that combos with Mute), the ousting power of Reckless Agitation and you really have an answer for maybe every possible game situation!

Ousting Power:

+2 bleed for Nergal, +1 bleed for Annazir, Reckless and Neonate Breach maybe. Enough said.

Defense:

Bleed bounce, Unleash, Free States Rant and maybe a few Banishment. S:CE of course. Seems solid.

Conclusion:

While surely not being Tier1, this deck seems to be effective. On paper at least. I think this deck will be very fun to play, mainly because of it's versatility. I encourage you guys to build it and play it because I hardly find an opportunity to play these days (mainly because I am playing soccer in a team and that is more important to me right now). Therefore I would be happy to get some feedback on this.

Arrrgh!

Hi folks!

So here we have this vampire: Myrna Goldman. A wonderful vampire for a toolbox deck or wall deck. She can use Abbot, Sense the Savage Way, Cat's Guidance, Deflection and Obedience or Faerie Wards as an bad ass defensive module, while using the uber card Gremlins for destroying equipments or an Archon save bleed 3 at 1 stealth. It is just too bad that she has no city title for playing the Papillon. Oh, and of course Isanwayen is group 4, so no good master tech is available. Group 5-6 doesn't have any city title.

She would be so my new fav. vampire if she had at least an archbishop title or (what I would prefer) would be group 5. This is not the firts time that group 6 pisses me of like hell. Or at least Isanwayen should have been made group 5. Damn it!

Selen Turkay's v:tes survey: please do it!

Hi folks!

Selen is doing some research work on v:tes, the game we all love. Please help her work by filling out the survey. I did it already and it took me no more than 2 minutes, so time is really not a factor. I am sure Selen will appreciate your efforts, so do I.

Card Idea: Dolores Ivanova

Hi folks!

This would be a vampire I'd love to play with. You could make a toolbox, multi rush, wall or even bruise bleed with her. Personally I would choose the multi rush of course...
